Not so many of the recent projects have attracted my attention as much as "Widow's Bay," to the point where I dropped everything else just to start to watch it. I have an undeniable weakness for the trope of the small, strange towns with a lot of mysteries and secrets. After watching the first episode of the series, with its dark satire, northern gothic atmosphere, and hints of deep lore, I knew that I was in for a treat. While the plot itself is not something absolutely new, the way the showrunners wrap it in an intricate web of folk horror, suspense, and absurd surrealism reminded me of plenty of great projects ("Twin Peaks," "The Shining," games of Rusty Lake, or "The Haunting of Hill House"). The first season so far left me absolutely satisfied and excited for more to come.
