Not Obvious Things that I Associate with Autumn

Even though this September barely managed to throw a cool shadow over the summer heat, and the leaves on the trees didn't cover in bright colors, the autumn has already crept into my soul invisibly. With the usual inventory of coffee, checkered blankets, freshly started books and smell of rain, this season has far more unusual associations for me, some of which I cannot explain logically.

1) Snack baby carrots

Simple, sweet and crunchy - I ate them on the wet from the rain bench in the park before the German lessons and never could stop myself from eating the whole pack. I doubt that I even remember that park now, but I still have somewhere on my phone a photo of colorful leaves, stack of study papers and a package of those carrots that were called something like "Cat-carrots".

2) Physics textbook

Like everyone else associates autumn with brown, Thursday and 16:00, I have an absolutely random memory of the pathetically thin Physics textbook I had in the last year of the high school. Physics was the last, eighth lesson, when it was already dark outside and often raining, and by the level of general despair in the class Physics was comparable to the last days of November.

3) White tea

I have tried it only two times in my life, and both in the middle of the winter, but a very specific bittersweet taste in a blue cup is too autumnal and October-ish. I've never found the same flavor since then, and the only time of the year I can actually taste something alike is in the late autumn. The café was cramped into two small tables, so we were surrounded by chatter of sellers and countless shelves of candies and something sweet, and the views on the city place were slightly hued in light blue.

4) Libraries

More on the obvious side of the associations, as everything remotely related to the whole dark academia aesthetic, libraries have a specific allure to me in the fall time, when it's still not gray enough to hide in the electrical lights but already not so warm to be outside. I can't statistically prove this habit, but I am sure that if I had had a list of all my numerous visits to any libraries, whether to study or to enjoy leisure hours, autumn would be a leading season for dark chairs, serene air and rows of the books.
